Planned electricity bills’ hike in Chile, and our suggestion to deal with it
In Chile, a gradual increase in electricity prices will begin next month (July 2024).
Thanks to the Chilean Consumer Protection Law, a sudden price increase was avoided, but for today’s economic situation, it’s likely to be a painful expense…
After the first month of the gradual price hike (July), electricity prices are scheduled to rise in October 2024 and January 2025, and depending on the amount used by each household, it’s said that the bills can rise significantly by 10-20% (up to 60% in 2025).
Particularly, electric heaters tend to consume a lot of electricity and make the bills expensive, that you probably wish to avoid.
Therefore, here is a suggestion from us:
Since many of our lease properties are equipped with central heating system, it’d help you save on electricity bills, if you use it instead of an electric heater.
What’s central heating system?
It’s a heating system that make hot water circulates around rooms from the building’s dedicated boiler to warm the entire rooms up gradually.
Depending on usage conditions, it’s expected that electricity costs will be lower than with other heating systems due to its electricity usage and operating efficiency.
For example, if you replace your electric heater to central heating system and start wearing thicker loungewear, it would not only save on electricity costs, but also prevent you from getting the common winter sick due to sudden temperature changes.
(However, be careful not to leave it turned on for a long time!)
In preparation for the electricity bills’ hike, please review your home heating method and usage, and choose a more reasonable option!
