How to prevent molds in lease properties
One of the things you would worry about while living in rental properties would be molds.
Since residents have an obligation to leave the leased properties to their original conditions as when moving in, it’s best to prevent humidity, and get rid of the molds as soon as you see them.
Below you can find some tips on how to prevent humidity and molds.
Please check them out for references!
・Freshen the air frequently
Especially, in winter, humidity and molds are more likely to be caused for the temperature difference from the outside due to the use of heaters and rain.
To prevent molds, please leave the windows opened halfway and turn the ventilation fan on once in a while: not only after letting the heater turned on for a certain period of time, but also while taking a bath or cooking.
Also, humidity can cause damages on door sills, as well.
Though many door sills have wood-like patterns, most of them are made of cardboard. If that door parts get damp, they can come off and/or their surface can be peeled off easily, that are common causes of the uncomfortableness when you open/close the door.
*If you experience any problems with your home’s equipments (leased by us), such as ventilation fans and door sills, please contact our post-sales service department immediately.
・Wipe off water droplets
Try to wipe off water droplets on windows and in bathrooms as frequent as possible.
Particularly, since many apartment bathrooms don’t have windows (though have ventilation fans), humidity/molds can be caused easily.
Water droplets accumulated in corners can cause molds, as well!
・Use anti-humidity goods
Additionally, you can try some dehumidifiers for your room.
For instance, in addition to your daily routine to prevent humidity/molds, you can put a dehumidifier in your rooms where humidity tends to accumulate.
For your closets or shoe cabinets, you can place blocks of charcoal in.
Using shoe dryer before putting your shoes in cabinet can be another option.
In case molds are already caused, be sure to use a special cleaner to thoroughly eliminate them and prevent it from recurring!
At your local supermarket, try to find cleaning agents with labels such as “Anti moho“, “Anti hongo“, or “removedor de moho“.
*The products that can be used vary depending on the material of the area where molds have grown.
Therefore, please be sure to check the product’s usage instructions and precautions before you apply them!
Please refer to the above, and enjoy your molds-free stay in Chile!
